Jane G. Morey (1922-2012) of Beverly, Massachusetts, served as a Coast Guard SPAR at the New York City Merchant Marine Inspection Unit from September 1943 until March 1945. Jane G. Morey was born in 1922 in Salem, Massachusetts, and grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts. After graduating from Beverly High School in 1941, she attended business school and worked in a five-and-dime store. Morey joined the Coast Guard SPARs (from Semper Paratus-Always Ready in September 1943 and went to six weeks of basic training at Lake Worth in Palm Beach, Florida, and twelve weeks of yeoman school at Lake Worth.
